Dr. Figueroa is a fine doctor in sure but what his practice suffers from is being too bogged down with too many patients. At least that’s my best guess. I’ve seen it many times before. Every time I would visit him, I would have a list of things that I was concerned about, and he would consistently talk over me when I tried to address them, and none of my issues would ever be addressed. It was as if he He had to get as many cases out-of-the-way as possible. I always felt that he just wanted to rush through my visits.

I’ve noticed that this seems to be a pattern as other reviews here have said similar things.

My new neurologist takes the time to listen to me and allows me to speak, and is very attentive and considers everything that I have said, and takes the time to offer suggestions that I never received from Figueroa.

I went to Dr. Figueroa regarding severe headaches and numbness in my hands, feet and face that had been going on for some time. After a few basic tests he told me it was mental and it was likely stress. Fast Forward a year later with no changes, I seen a different neurologist who took his time and performed a number of tests, he is now treating me for neuropathy.

Figueroa is so snobby and arrogant which made me so frustrated that i did not tell him all of my malfunctions like pain behind my eyes and tingling in both my hands when my hands twitch and tingling on both of my legs which make my legs and feet feel like I have cement blocks and I can’t walk while walking. Which makes me lose my balance. I played stupid since I felt downgraded but I did not stoopto his lowest level. It seemed like he was in a rush and impatient lDid not look at my records which were transferred from my last awesome Neurologist Rakesh Shah in New Port Richey off Rowan Road. Figueroa kept asking me questions which made me uncomfortable when he asked why come to him. I I had to transferred because my Neurologist Rakesh Shah does not take my new health care provider which is United Health care and had referred me to to a neuromuscular clinic by Mease Countryside Hospital . It was way too obvious that he did not read my files and reports before seeing me!!!! Way too obvious!! I told him I need to see a Neuromuscular specialist which accepts my healthcare which is United Healthcare and he tells me you need to call and ask them yourself and dismisses me. After he walks in and out of his office which looked too obvious and noticeable that he had to step out of the office a few times to look at my records and files of all the MRIs and other records that were transferred from my Neurologist’s office, to his office. I won’t even bother going back to him. I live in New Port Richey which is too far of a drive for me to drive with my condition.. I’m my visit to other doctors my blood pressure is usually very low but after the visit with Figueroa made my blood boil. LOL I asked the receptionist if USF accepts United Healthcare and she tells me the same thing Figueroa told me You have to call and ask them!!! I asked her what happens if they won’t accept my health insurance. She says then you’ll just have to call us back. Now ask yourselves! Should I be asking these questions?! I got dismissed just right before 12:00 LUNCH TIME Maybe they were all hangry!! LoL

We really love Dr. Figueroa and his nurse. I wish his kindness would spill over to the office staff.
The front desk staff and some of the doctors assistants are just plain rude. I've managed front desk operations in my career and this team needs training on how to speak to patients. I observed and experienced them being rude to patients that are struggling physically and with insurance issues.
I realize the staff support multiple doctors and not just Dr. Figueroa.
I heard them say to one upset person "not many doctors take YOUR insurance" and not pleasantly. Another staff member yelled over her shoulder at this same woman "we don't take your insurance" as she walked by her.
It was uncomfortable to overhear and unnecessary to be that rude.

Based on my recent evaluation and brief conversation in regards my MRI findings and condition I've decided it's not a good fit. I felt Dr didn't address my concerns nor provided a solution. Dr did not allow my concerns to be fully heard constantly telling me to stop interrupting, not professional and seemed not interested.

Doctor is great but the operator/nurse is the worst. It’s been 2 weeks I am trying to leave the vm to see him coz of my daily migraines from the Botox injection.. she responds after 2 days and leaves a vm to reach scheduling dept to see him. And when I call the scheduling dept they have no such message to be scheduled for a visit. So I am back in circles again trying to leave vm for nurse to bridge the communication gap for me to be able to schedule a visit to see him. This whole circle is more frustrating than the migraines itself.
Doctor is great no doubt but need to change the staff that sits to take the vms.

Although both he & I decided it was not a good fit, because I did not have a spinal problem, however I will state for the record Dr. Figueroa is a doctor who is most concerned with a person's well-being. He will speak "with you," not "at you." He is extremely conscientious in his questioning & extremely tenacious in matters of neurology. God forbid I had a spinal injury, I would have him as my neurologist!
