Where do I start? I pay nearly 2K a month to live in the worst apartment building I've ever stayed in in my life. The elevators are constantly broken down, the floors are always nasty. Once maintenance leaves for the day any emergency situation you have they will not answer, if they answer until the next day. There was an apartment a few floors up that had a leak and water came all the way to my apartment and water was coming out of lights and the ceiling. I called for emergency maintenance over 10 times starting at 11 pm at night but didn't have no one come to my apartment until 9 am.

They have NO security so random people walk in all night destroy the amenities and just hang around in the lobby. Instead of getting security or concierge they just lock up the amenities and now the residents who pay to stay here can't enjoy. That's why I'm even leaving a review, I went to the roof top to get some fresh air and it's locked yet again. Why do I need fresh air? Because the windows only open 8 inches and after a while you start to feel claustrophobic. Went to the office to ask to open the door upstairs and guess what they are closed, it's closed during the day so much I'm wondering are they even in the office anymore.

Homeless people sleeping in the lobby, in the weight room, in the bathroom downstairs. Homeless People hangout in the back of the building and charge their phones.

The positives: The people in the office are great but I don't think they getting the help from superiors that they need. Every time I try to address an issue with them I can genuinely tell that they are trying but are stressed because the owners don't want to spend the money to fix issues. My apartment itself on the inside is nice. But the walk to my apartment is so frustrating because the environment SUCKS.

Simple fix: Get 24 hr Concierge or security and at least 1 janitor to keep the place clean at night. I pay 2k monthly so from all these apartments in this building this complex has to make over 500k monthly so affording security and a janitor shouldn't be that dang difficult

I lived in this community for about a decade. When the prior management company owned it, this community was so much better. Now that Brookfield Properties took it over, this whole community has diminished in quality. The elevators break down often, causing the buildings to remain out of ADA compliance. The management company leaves it up to the residents to fend off homeless individuals from coming inside the buildings, advising everyone to not hold the door open for people - mainly because they didn’t want to pay for security. Management dragged their feet for months evicting a tenant whose dog barked continuously day and night. My neighbor developed heart trouble from the stress and lack of sleep. At least 3 residents broke their leases to leave because management refused to address the barking. After they all moved out, the eviction process finally started. I could go on about the ongoing issues, but here’s the real reason for this review:

I rented a storage unit from them that I paid for each month. The first year I started renting the unit, my washer and dryer (the only things in my storage unit) were removed without my knowledge or consent. Management denied knowledge and liability until I was filing a police report and had two police officers with me. Suddenly, they *found* my washer and dryer, stating it stayed in the maintenance storage room the whole time. When the washer and dryer were returned to me, they showed obvious signs of use (dents and scratches, lent trap full, kids stickers stuck in the drum of the dryer but I don’t have kids). Management denied the washer and dryer left the building, but maintenance later advised me that management allowed a maintenance employee to take home the washer and dryer but made him return the washer and dryer when I was filing my police report.

The following year, the locks were changed on my storage unit without my knowledge or consent.

The last year, I had tons of Christmas stuff and family heirlooms in my storage unit - 2 Christmas trees, tons and tons of ornaments I’ve collected since I was a child, my deceased father’s family’s heirlooms. When I was packing to move out finally, I went to my storage unit, and everything was gone. I went to management again, who, of course, denied knowledge of anyone taking anything out of storage units. (Sound familiar?) I attempted to file another police report to make a claim on my renter’s insurance, but it was impossible to quantify the ornaments I had and value everything I had in my unit. I lost all of my deceased father’s belongings, all family heirlooms, and all of my Christmas belongings. I was devastated, and I'm still upset about it. All I received in return from management was a shrug and a letter denying of any wrong doing. Management is the only one, other than me, who has a key to the storage unit and the unit was obviously not broken into.

To anyone looking to move here, I promise you, there are better and more trustworthy places to live everywhere around Dallas. Please remember, you’re choosing your home where you store your belongings. Find a place where you know your belongings will be safe. This place isn’t it.

I live in the mercantile, so I cannot say much about the actual management here. But amenity wise, the Continental is really nice. Upon walking into the building, it smells like a spa. They have a really nice indoor hot tub, sauna, and steam room. They also have a workout room that is never too crowded. The decor is nice and relaxing, and it's overall a very clean. A very unique apartment building.

It appears that the Continental is one of many buildings at "The Merc". From my recent visit the Continental does boast of a "wellness lifestyle" having a fitness center with a spa, sauna, and jacuzzi for residents to enjoy. However many amenities I saw were either broken and looked unattended. The jacuzzi was broken and didn't look well maintained as well as other amenities. The current owner(s) must invest more capital to bring this building to its once worthy prestige. I'm giving 2 ⭐'s because the mgr and office staff were very courteous. My disappointment is due to the condition of the building's interior.

This place has truly gone down I draw the line at roaches crawling on my bed? So tired of management ignoring us yet they want the rent on time each month. I’m so not happy here anymore. They keep saying bare with them yet nothing out of the 4 buildings here this is the absolute worst. The homeless people living better than us in our suppose to be home☹️ All I can say at this point is SHAME ON YOU & DO BETTER!!!!!!!

Been here 4 years. Was amazing when my family first moved in. They use to have a lot of social events with free food, etc. but now not so much. Not sure if it’s the management’s or a problem with getting approval from higher authority, but Would be a great place if rules were enforced and a response to resident complaints would acquire in a timely matter. The inside of the apartment rooms are amazing! Views great and appliances are okay. (Fridge is super small and stackable dryer sucks if u have large loads) . It’s the once you step out of your apartment and stepping in that makes this place horrible.

Certain floors have severely bad ROACHES ! ELEVATORS are constantly BROKE! The CARPET on the floors are DISGUSTING! Back DOORS are constantly BROKE to the point you have to walk around to the front to enter.

Seem as if management does not gad about this property but cares more for the one they physically work in. We constantly get told they will look into it or they are working on it.

Currently since 1/14/2024 the heating has been off in certain units. Our window seal literally was accumulating ice as the snow storm hit Dallas. It is still off as of today 1/18/2024.

You can put in a work order for when you are not home and your things will get stolen. Lots of crime take place here , police are here constantly about something. Residents are never informed.

HOMELESS people are always SLEEPING in LOBBY or PARKING GARAGE. Parking GARAGE GATE is BROKE almost always every weekend. People do not clean up after their PETS, 9/10 you are going to step in SHXT or PEE whether it’s INSIDE the BUILDING lobby, elevator, parking garage or outside around the building.

A simple fix of having: On site management and security is needed to control what goes on and enforce the rules. Wouldn’t recommend no one to move here until these issues are resolved .

Place is only good for being central in Dallas,Tx.(close to major freeways)

UPDATE 9/2024:*

Please do not move here and read all reviews! On every site! After 2 years you will notice a bug problem. (Other reviews will say the same as well from years before mine) No matter how clean you are. ( but then again it is downtown all downtowns are nasty) Didn’t check the reviews before moving here which is bad on my part. Dryer has been broken for 2 months… maintenance and office give bs response saying parts need to be ordered. Have seen 2 deaths in 2024 & 2023 literally outside my window. In therapy because of this trauma. Again plz read all reviews on every site. Also look up these apartments and the shooting. Very recent & if we had a security, on site management or a proper check in with no doors or elevators broken, this probably wouldn’t have even happened!

I've lived in this building for a couple of years, and instead of improving, they are decaying. We've spoken with management about the amenities; they don't work, and they've been closed for months. The manager just said that the amenities are not included in the rent. What kind of building only offers you the apartment? When we arrived at this complex, they showed us all the amenities, not just the apartment. That reply was really mediocre from my point of view.

On the other hand, the access to the building is always open because they are continuously broken. As a consequence, last Saturday (04.06.2024), about 47 cars were vandalized. The elevators are always broken and very dirty.

There are people drinking alcohol in the back of the building, people smoking cigarettes and weed in the garage. This place is not the same as in the past years and they're not planning on improving anything.

I don't recommend this place; it is very unsafe.
